Key handed over for new packaging centre

Harvest House received the key to the new pepper packaging centre in De Lier last week. This new‑build facility supports the growth of the cooperative and aligns with the ambitions of its pepper growers.

With a height of 31 metres, the building is a distinctive landmark along the A20 and serves as the ‘gateway to the Westland’. The construction team, consisting of Harvest House, its pepper growers and Rainbow Kleinpak, worked together with main contractor De Vries en Verburg to design and realise the new building in accordance with the BREEAM‑NL Excellent standard. This is reflected in sustainable solutions for energy, heating, cooling and water use. In this way, the building aligns with the sustainability ambitions of Harvest House and contributes to a future‑proof chain.

Rainbow Kleinpak will put the packaging centre into use. Since 2013, the company has been responsible for the central packaging of (organic) block and pointed peppers from Harvest House growers. The expansion provides future‑oriented packaging capacity for the various pepper varieties and contributes to the further professionalisation and sustainability of logistics.

The fit‑out of the packaging hall has started, bringing together both new and existing packaging lines. Between July and December, Rainbow Kleinpak will transition to the new packaging hall in phases. By the end of January, the new location will be fully operational. The distinctive office tower of the new building will be taken into use from the summer of 2026 by a number of supporting departments of Harvest House.
