In 2026, the organic sector will play a prominent role within The Week of Our Food in The Netherlands. On Monday 5 October, Bio Monday will take centre stage for the first time during the national campaign. With this initiative, the organic sector joins The Week of Our Food as a new lead partner.
Bio Monday during The Week of Our Food
During Bio Monday, several organisations will work together, including BioMasters, Harvest House, Green Organics, Odin and De Groene Weg. With the introduction of Bio Monday, the partners aim to inspire consumers to make a conscious choice for organic products more often.
The ambition of the organic sector is clear: by 2030, 15 per cent of total food consumption should be organic. According to the initiators, this goal is closer than many people realise. “If consumers choose organic products on average one day a week, this target already comes within reach,” the organisation states. “By eating organic more often, demand grows and farmers are given more scope to produce in a sustainable and future‑oriented way.”
The choice of Monday as a themed day has been made deliberately. For many people, Monday marks the moment to start new habits and routines. Bio Monday aims to demonstrate that small, recurring choices can have a major impact on food production, biodiversity and sustainability.
The Week of Our Food
The Week of Our Food will take place in 2026 from 3 to 10 October. During this national campaign week, the value of our food takes centre stage, with additional attention for the people and sectors behind our food supply. Each day focuses on a specific theme within the food chain, including organic food on Monday and fruit and vegetables on Thursday.
