Our story around crop protection

We want to grow 100% green, without synthetic crop protection products. And to do so profitably. That ambition is clear, but the road towards it is challenging. Pressure from society, government and customers to reduce the use of pesticides is increasing, while the number of permitted substances continues to decrease. This sometimes makes it difficult for growers to control diseases and pests effectively.

Yet we don't keep waiting. We are taking responsibility and tackling this challenge with a 360-degree approach. We minimise the use of synthetic agents wherever possible. At the same time, we are fully committed to innovation, research and cooperation in the chain. Only in this way will we accelerate the transition to future-proof cultivation.

We measure our environmental impact

We work every day to minimise our environmental impact so that future generations can continue to enjoy fresh and healthy vegetables. Sustainability starts with insight. That is why we measure and monitor our impact with the European rules of the FreshProducePEFCR, so that we can make informed choices and focus on improvements. This is not a new label, but a standardised LCA methodology that shows exactly what the ecological footprint of our products is. Sixteen indicators sharply map where we stand and where we can improve. We measure, invest and adjust. We measure the effect of investments, see what changing energy profiles mean and compare consumption figures with impact figures. This is how we make the real impact of sustainable choices visible.

Together we build sustainable cultivation

At Harvest House, we stand for healthy, sustainable cultivation. Every day, together with our growers, colleagues and chain partners, we work towards one clear goal: climate-neutral cultivation in 2040. Not because we have to, but because we believe in a sustainable future. Sustainability is in our DNA. We use energy, water and raw materials smartly and take responsibility for the entire chain - from seed to shelf. This is how we continue to feed the world in a responsible way.

In our sustainability report 2024, we show where we are now, what we need to get better at and how we will get there.
